This machine was one of the early manufactured batches, shipped to Taiwan 4th July 1967. At some point it finished up in Denver, Colorado, USA, who knows how it got there, perhaps a US army person? When you look at the BSA Vehicle Report you will see it has matching frame and engine numbers and original gearbox wheels and forks. The bike was purchased from DK Motorcycles early 2014 and stripped to allow for powder coating of metal bits and a mechanical upgrade of the oil pump. Early models were prone to oil starvation at high revs. A1970's redesigned pump was purchased and fitted from America which enabled the checking of the moving bits! The piston is standard, as fitted, and the cylinder bore is in good condition. A new set of rings have been fitted. The con rod has no vertical up and down movement. The valve seats were re-cut and new clutch springs fitted. Gearbox works efficiently and is first gear down and up for neutral plus remaining 2nd/3rd and 4thgears. Frame and swinging arm are straight and there is no evidence of damage. Chain guard does have some small dents/marks. From the front, the bike has had new tyres and tubes, new cables, new wiring harness, battery and switches. New handlebar and levers and a new steel tank and fittings to replace the old fiberglass one. Original Racing Dual Seat base with new foam and cover. New exhaust pipe, silencer is as supplied and stamped 1967. Both wheel rims/spokes plus mudguards are original. New Amal Carb, rear chain and shock absorbers. Always difficult to find and replace original components, but in our opinion this machine is clean and correct and apart from missing decals ….. is a bike of its time ….. a 50 year old British BSA.
